DoD 1.3 looks like shit. Especially once turned into .bmp form. It has awful contrast and contrast, no depth and overall bad. This is where a good movie maker can make the flick POP!
Now there are literally hundreds of combinations you can use to improve the look of a clip. I will not by any means go into them. You really need to play around with them to get a nice feel.
Some effects that you can overlay your footage with are:
Brightness & Contrast, Colour Balance, Colour Corrector, Colour Curves, Glow, HSL Adjust, Levels and Unsharp Mask.
Play around with these settings a bit. I normally use up to three effects overlaid to get a nice result.
