Making A DoD Movie: The Complete Guide

Recording, Compiling and Organising your Footage

Simply go to C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\EMAIL\day of defeat\dod. Shock! So many files! OMG my computerz!

Well I warned you it takes a lot of space to deal with it. What did you just do? Lets say you recorded a 5 second clip. You effectively recorded 120 .bmp files per second @ approx 2.25 per .bmp. That's 600 .bmps for one clip (1500mb) Now if you have a problem with space you can edit the config to save 60 frames or even 30. However, the quality of your movie will suffer. What ever number you choose make sure it is divisible by 30. There is no need to exceed 120.

Now you must organise your .bmps so they can be manipulated in the editing process later. Simply make a series of folders. Copy all the .bmps beginning with "A" and put them into the "A" folder; and so on. Do this until all of your .bmps are into their respective folders. Time consuming but easy.

Now make a folder in your my documents called "Movie", or whatever you want to call it. This way you keep everything together. Make a folder in it called "Clips" and move all your clip folders into it. It sounds stupid buts it makes the process much quicker when editing.

Congratulations you have now reached the level of:  A Tima
